Dogs Lower Risk Of Death, Swedish Study Finds

One of the reasons why dog ownership has lesser impact among multi person household could be due to the fact that family members can take turns walking and interacting with the dog. As a sole dog owner, all the physical labor and interaction is done by one person.

“We know that dog owners in general have a higher level of physical activity, which could be one explanation to the observed results,” said Fall. This includes taking the dog out for a walk in any weather condition.

According to  Tove Fall, a senior author on the study, hunting dog owners are least affected by cardiovascular illnesses. After all, these dogs need a lot of exercise and encourage their owners to move. Terriers, retrievers, and scent hounds are examples of hunting dogs.

Aside from keeping you active and engaged, they also improve immune system. You know, dogs love to roll on filthy things!
